ABOUT THIS ALBUM

This is an album I compiled for the Different Drummer label back in 2001. It features tracks from a selection of artists who performed regularly at the Substance club nights at Birmingham's Custard Factory, which I was running at the time. Some tracks are produced by me, some by others. Mad Flow's "It's The Who?" was the first track I ever made and had some popularity, appearing on Mr Thing's Mix CD for Breakin' Point magazine, featured on their highest selling issue. Listening back now, production values vary, but it's a good representation of what was going on at the time. There's a variety of styles on there, but an underlying jazz theme which I tried to maintain throughout. The tracks featured here are only a selection from the complete album, which can still be found on discogs, ebay etc.
